Alterations Supervisor
What You’ll Do
· Plan and organize a production system capable of altering 250 garments per day with an expandable capacity of 25% during sales or peak periods.
· Produce work quality comparable to or better than the original workmanship of each garment altered.
· Complete and return to the stores all alterations within 48 hours (weekday hours) from receipt by the Central Workroom.
· Organize workflow and distribute work to staff, and movement and quality inspection of completed garments for the following work sections:
o Pants Operation
o Coat Sleeves and Seams
o Dress and Skirt Hems
o Shirt/Blouse/Dress Sleeves
o Main Tailors’ Work
o Main Dressmakers’ Work
o Pressing
· Help motivate and/or train staff for each work section and monitor cross-training of each employee to become specialized and proficient in at least two of the work sections.
· Oversee the following specialized alterations for Neiman Marcus Regional and Non-Regional Stores.
o Buttonholes
o Trouser Recuts
o Knitted Hems
o Double-Blind Machine Hems
o Garment made of Double-Faced Fabrics
o Leather Garments
· Monitor work units and quality objectives of each associate and the achievement of these objectives. Articulate skill level deficiencies of associates to manager take appropriate disciplinary actions, where needed.
· Perform random, in-process quality inspections at various workstations and develop a method that ensures 100% final inspection of finished garments.
· Report malfunctioning equipment and machinery in the workrooms to the manager. Select, test, and purchase all tailoring supplies needed.
· Make the Supplies List available to the Regional Service Manager for ordering.
· Support opening and closing procedures of building.
· Monitor timekeeping of non-exempt associates.
· Support FedEx and Local shuttle transportation deliveries and shipments of stores supported by WCSC
· Establish a harmonious and positive relationship with the Fitters, Sewers, and Alterations Service Manager to help maintain a qualitative perception of the service among salespeople, customers, and store management.
· Involvement in the Check-In, Check-Out, Inbounding, and Out Bounding processes with the clerical staff to check and inspect the merchandise in/out to produce all the documentation necessary to manage and control the business.
What You Bring
You have experience/knowledge on tailoring of business type suites, shirts, fashion trend of higher-end designer clothing.
