Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Data & Analytics Delivery Organization at Neiman Marcus.  Neiman Marcus is going through a digital transformation and insights from our data are driving the transformation of Neiman Marcus Group into a Luxury Customer Platform and providing the best customer experience across all our brands.

We are looking for a Staff Data Analyst with deep experience and the ability to be hands-on to transform how NMG leverages the massive amount of internal and external data and to ensure structured & unstructured data can be leveraged securely across the organization. You will be working with business users, data product owners, platform, enterprise architecture, data management, and data engineering teams to ensure our data assets are built with quality, governance, and standards using current and emerging cloud data technologies. You will establish & evangelize best-in-class data patterns that will drive flexible, scalable, and efficient relational data models to maximize value & competitive advantage from our data assets at Neiman Marcus Group that align with NMG’s strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership to the business and technology organization to influence improved agility and deeper understanding of the NMG data capabilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business domain and enterprise data assets to craft a data solutions roadmap that achieves business enablement
  • Lead, collaborate, and communicate with various stakeholders including product, architecture, development, and executive teams
  • Make recommendations toward a practical data roadmap for an enterprise-wide BI reporting and analytics capability, including ML and AI capabilities.
  • Build and flesh out relational data models for new and existing data assets for use in real-time dashboards, on-demand and/or automated reporting and analysis.
  • Create simple, flexible, and scalable data relational models and modelling standards to enable NMG data marketplace and data consumption patterns
  • Be a passionate problem solver - breaking down problems and developing analytical insights
  • Support the business with ad hoc reporting
  • Continuously strive for a deeper understanding of key business drivers
  • Offer insight to all aspects of the organization – merchandising, supply chain, marketing, and customer insights

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in CS/Data Engineering or related fields
  • 7+ years’ experience with large-scale, enterprise data sets
  • A love for insights, innate curiosity, and a deep desire to find ways to create value
  • Demonstratable experience finding business value in data assets.
  • Experience building large scale data processing and analytical systems
  • Proven understanding of data governance, data quality, reusable frameworks and decision support systems design principles
  • Deep understanding of modern data engineering practices including scalability, distributed computing, AWS cloud infrastructure, containerization, etc.
  • Proven ability to inspire confidence, create executive presentations and guide strategic discussions with senior management.
  • Ability to understand and adapt to changing business priorities and technology advancements.
  • Ability to operate in a multifaceted and fast-paced environment, building strategy while executing tactics, including hands-on contributions
  • Proven track record of collaboration with engineering leaders and business partners to drive impact.
  • In-depth, hands-on experience using structured and unstructured data as well as key data technologies, including AWS, Snowflake, EMR, AirFlow, Hive, Kinesis, Spark, etc. 
  • Experience working in a scrum/agile environment and associated tools (Jira)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with some flavor of data visualization (i.e. Tableau)
  • Experience with retail a plus
