The Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Analysis is charged with developing and communicating the NM and BG brands’ growth strategy and providing recommendations on strategic direction to executives & the Board of Directors. This role works across the organization to align, enable, and support the development and implementation of NMG’s strategic roadmap through strategic analysis of ad hoc financial, economic, consumer and operations with a focus on revenue optimization. Responsible for supporting GLT alignment and other GEO Chief of Staff responsibilities to advance strategic goals and ensure alignment, integration and prioritization of efforts, while building the capacity to help our associates lead and navigate change and focus resources. The Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Analysis will champion the strategic analysis agenda, set up baseline, definition and reporting, on CLV, categories and brand partners, in order to compete effectively and contribute towards NMG’s vision of being an innovative, growth-minded, customer-centric luxury platform. The VP, Corporate Strategy & Analysis will report to the Head of Strategy and Transformation, supporting the Growth & Execution Office (GEO).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the NMG Strategic Analysis team in partnership with the Head of Strategy and Transformation. Develops near and long-term strategic growth initiatives and revenue optimization with supporting business case analysis, including potential implications, to deliver quantified business impact to support NMG’s transformational program and the strategic initiatives that are needed to grow key business capabilities and establish NMG as the preeminent luxury customer platform.
  • Owns alignment and standardization of strategic and analytical initiatives across business teams by establishing and analyzing baseline, definition, and reporting on CLV, categories, and brand partners. Manages the rhythm of NMG transformation initiatives by monitoring, analyzing and communicating industry trends that impact strategic planning and growth while continually driving alignment and execution of core business priorities.
  • Advises the executive team on analysis of progress towards the strategic vision, highlighting risks to value creation. Owns key executive reports and metrics.
  • Provides thought leadership in NMG business deep dives across a variety of key performance indicators. Creates a transparent view of current level of initiative performance and monitors/resolves dependencies.
  • Identifies and drives new Business Development with a strategic framework via buy, build or partner to achieve NMG plans. Champions new opportunities across the organization, working collaboratively to identify critical business needs and remove key roadblocks.
  • Partners with Financial Planning & Analysis to run financial scenarios in order to bring alignment and understanding towards cross-functional initiatives that impact each other and the greater organization. Supports initiative ad hoc financial, economic, consumer and operation analyses. Monitors performance of the business by ensuring core KPIs are met and understanding the driving forces behind them.
  • Manages the analysis of cross-functional initiatives and supporting metrics; partners with the VP, Strategic Transformation to analyze issues and facilitate decisions to maintain project execution.
  • Acts as an agent of change utilizing data and metrics to influence and align perspectives and prepare people within the organization to act with urgency; recommend reporting tools to measure performance.

 

Desired Education, Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • 15+ years of management consulting, corporate strategic and financial analysis, strategic planning, business development, and/or related business unit leadership with extensive knowledge of apparel, retail, customer and digital work streams, including experience in a strategic or activist PMO;
  • Bachelor’s degree required in quantitative discipline such as engineering, business, finance or mathematics; MBA or comparable graduate degree preferred;
  • Experience driving enterprise-wide financial and operational analysis, and business development initiatives, accompanied by strong process and project management skills;
  • History of strategic business analysis in complex transformational initiatives, working across organizational boundaries to drive results;
  • Strong quantitative background with experience determining insights to inform key business decisions; connects customer analytics to financial outcomes. Ability to think beyond the P&L to arrive at true value and drive impactful decisions;
  • Forward-thinking and ability to balance strategic projects and initiatives with tactical day-to-day reporting and management cadence. Ability to assess impact on multiple time horizons and drive to recommendations. Ability to think critically with strong understanding of near-term and long-term implications;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior management teams, manage and execute projects with a curious mindset and a strong bias for action; ability to effectively prioritize projects and meet aggressive, recurring deadlines;
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills with the ability to translate highly complex concepts and communicate them in a concise, digestible manner;
  • Experience in the e-commerce, luxury retail, retail technology, or management consulting industries;
  • Preferred history of leading a digital first organization.

  • Demonstrated bias for action with strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline driven work environment, attention to detail, and ability to juggle many tasks and projects simultaneously. Must be a self-starter;
  • Ability to support initiative and non-initiative ad hoc financial, economic, consumer and ops analyses;
  • Ability to interpret and execute complex company strategies, to remove obstacles to implementation, to manage cross-functional complexities and stakeholders, to engage individuals throughout the organization and across all levels, and to drive a progressive set of behaviors;
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and apply structure to complex issues and opportunities;
  • Ability to oversee a portfolio of projects and proven experience driving cross-functional teams;
  • Strong analytical capabilities and ability to synthesize complex information and derive data-driven insights through logic and frameworks;
  • Energy and edge that serve as catalyst for action and change in the organization;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as the ability to think critically & analyze quantitatively.
