The Neiman Marcus Group is searching for a qualified Infrastructure Architect to offer subject matter expertise in the development of our infrastructure strategy. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment where they will plan and build highly available data center and store infrastructures.

The Infrastructure Architect will be required to identify and evaluate high level enterprise business requirements, analyze the as-is network and systems environment, and design a future infrastructure architecture that is reliable, scalable, and supportable. This position requires leadership abilities to provide direction to technical resources on multiple projects and initiatives. The ideal candidate will also be proficient with budgeting, planning, and project methodologies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will design and implement enterprise solutions focused in data center and store infrastructure technologies. This role works closely with other engineers and architects to develop technical platform summary documents, strategic roadmaps and to implement new technologies as part of large-scale lifecycle programs and enterprise key initiatives.

 

  • Lead the strategy for infrastructure architecture to support network, compute, storage, and other data center and store dependent technologies
  • Continuously identify simplification opportunities in the infrastructure’s technical business processes and driving these efforts to completion
  • Generate and maintain reference architecture for storage, virtualization, and backup systems based on industry best practices
  • Review new designs, solutions, system upgrades, and system enhancements across the enterprise footprint
  • Ensure Infrastructure devices and systems remain current with the operating system (OS) versions and patches
  • Perform configuration analysis for system design
  • Assess vendor solutions and services related to infrastructure operations
  • Design and recommend infrastructure solutions that integrate with current and planned technologies
  • Work with senior leadership and IT partners to build and develop tactical plans that include strategy and fiscal requirements
  • Provide advice and consulting support to the project teams directly or through team members
  • Maintain a close understanding of the business issues, operating procedures and priorities.  Look for opportunities to improve our business agility
  • Drive continuous improvement in service delivery processes to accelerate provisioning of new systems
  • Collaborate with other enterprise architects to ensure infrastructure designs are aligned with business requirements
  • Participate in architectural forums with technical resources across all departments
  • Build and maintain technical documentation including technical platform summary documents and strategic roadmaps

Requirements:

  • 15+ years industry experience
  • 8+ years of working experience with VMware VSphere, and VCenter, having knowledge on other hypervisors (MS-Hyper-V & KVM)
  • 8+ years of experience working with server technologies including Windows, Linux, & AIX operating systems
  • Experience architecting complex technology solutions for infrastructure modernization efforts
  • Experience in developing dynamic systems with infrastructure redundancy to ensure high availability and disaster recovery
  • Exceptional documentation skills that can clearly articulate technical designs, issues and constraints, procedures, and infrastructure assessments
  • Comprehension of networking concepts including network design principles, routing, switching, VLANs, IP addressing, etc as it pertains to data center technologies
  • Knowledge of data circuits and ability to assist in installations, activations, and cancellations
  • Solid understanding of advanced networking technologies and virtualization technologies, and solutions including MPLS, load balancing, VPN tunnels, etc.
  • Experience with enterprise class data center management/monitoring systems is desired (Solarwinds, Airwave, etc.)
  • Expert level knowledge of scripting, AD group policy design, and Windows/AD security best practices
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills regarding technical and non-technical concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem determination/resolution skills
