Neiman Marcus Group has an immediate opening for a Sr. Manager of Data Science reporting to the Sr. Director of Data Science.  This position leads a team of 5 data scientists overseeing the customer, economics and value proposition data science disciplines.  To support this team this person will leverage additional resources from our offshore GCC data science team in Bangalore.  This team creates data science/AI modeling and predictive insights into customer behaviors to support decision making to customer strategy and customer lifetime value.  Understand the econometric models of the luxury industry and individual brands to build models to optimize economic and strategic outcomes and understand the value and causality of actions the business may take for all brands both in stores and online.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and Oversee a team of 5 data scientists
  • Participate in interviews to grow the data science team.
  • Manage the end to end development of Data Science and AI models covering our focus areas of Customer, Economic and Value Proposition data science.
  • Partner with business and engineering stakeholders to develop data-driven business strategy that produces production level ML and AI products used to influence business outcomes.
  • Build frameworks to ensure successful end to end completion of projects across your team.
  • Present results to business stake holders ranging from the C-Suite to in store associates.
  • Own the full development cycle: idea, design, prototype, impact assessment, A/B testing (including interpretation of results).
  • Scale models and insights offerings to multiple products.
  • Be the voice of the customer across products and determine trends vs. outliers.

 

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Quantitative Discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.).
  • 8+ years of industry experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience managing data scientists and growing a data science team.
  • Experience managing a geographically dispersed workforce across multiple time zones.
  • Has worked as an IC in data science and can roll their sleeves up and get their hands dirty with their team.
  • Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills.
  • Customer focused
  • Leadership ability to influence others, without authority, to lead change
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Self-starter who needs minimal direction and able to effectively manage through ambiguity
  • Experience with SPARK
  • Expert in SQL, Python
