The Selling Assistant leads with a focus on customer service and relationship-building, embodying Bergdorf Goodman’s values of Excellence, Imagination & Graciousness. Thriving in a fast-paced luxury environment, this role supports the department in delivering seamless, personalized experiences to our most discerning clients. Balancing front-facing service with essential operational responsibilities, this role plays a vital part  in upholding the highest standards of excellence while growing within a premier retail setting.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Remain active and visible on the sales floor, providing a welcoming presence and greeting clients
  • Assist Sales Associates with inbound interselling by offering product knowledge and on-the-floor supportBuild strong working relationships with associates across all departments
  • Organize appointment scheduling and manage client interactions to ensure a seamless experience
  • Maintain and update client information to nurture lasting relationshipsProcess transactions accurately and efficiently at the POS
  • Handle post-appointment follow-up, including order tracking, alterations coordination, and sending thank-you notes
  • Support digital selling initiatives and contribute to enhancing the team’s social media presence
  • Help organize exclusive gifting programs and special experiences for top clients
  • Ensure all unsold merchandise is properly returned to stock
  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of fitting rooms, coordinating with housekeeping and maintenance as needed
  • Support inventory management, including reconciliation and stock accuracy
  • Help maintain merchandise protection standards and overall floor organization
  • Communicate effectively with peers, leadership, and high-level clientele
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Exhibit excellent organizational skills and ensure timely follow-up on tasks
  • Stay up to date with POS systems and client management tools to optimize workflow
  • Perform additional tasks and assignments as needed to support business operations

What You Bring

  • A strong interest in fashion and a desire to learn and grow in luxury retail
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent service standards
  • A solution-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt and resolve challenges quickly
  • A collaborative, “win together” mindset
  • Basic proficiency with MS Office Product Suite, advanced proficiency preferred
  • Certain roles may require standing, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds
