Responsible Sourcing Manager
MAIN FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Protect human rights in the supply chain
- Create and maintain a Supplier Code of Conduct that protects human rights and aligns with international standards from the United Nations and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
- Create and maintain processes to ensure direct and domestic vendor compliance through contracts, third-party audits, and other industry best practices
- Advise internal business partners and collaborate with suppliers to initiate and complete Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) or terminate contracts when NMG standards are violated or other issues arise
- Regularly assess risks associated with specific geographies, vendors, and issues within NMG’s supply chain to prioritize NMG’s responsible sourcing efforts effectively
- Provide reporting to cross-functional business partners that support NMG’s C-TPAT and ESG programs, ensures regulatory compliance (i.e. California Transparency in Supply Chains Act), and promotes transparency
- Manage third-party responsible sourcing consultants to provide direction and ensure high-quality work
Ensure safe and sustainable products
- Support the Trade Compliance team’s efforts to ensure product quality and safety, including issues like chemical management
- Create and maintain an FDA compliant Foreign Supplier Verification program, managing 3rd party consultants and subsequent roll-out to brand partners.
- Support the Merchandising and Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) teams’ efforts to develop, track, and audit sustainable and ethical product standards, including products that are made with sustainable materials, responsibly manufactured, made by diverse brands, give back, and promote transparency
- Represent NMG in relevant Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) and National Retail Federation (NRF) committees to ensure the business is learning and sharing emerging best practices in responsible sourcing
Maintain legal and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with Legal team to stay up-to-date with relevant supply chain laws and regulations and ensure NMG complies
- Ensure internal business partners are aware of critical developments in responsible sourcing, like US Customs’ Withhold Release Orders related to Xinjiang Cotton, and understand the business implications
- Manage California Transparency in Supply Chains Act reporting
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of work history in responsible sourcing, sustainability, or related function within the fashion and/or retail industries
- Demonstrated success in managing complex multi-stakeholder programs and developing policies and standard operating procedures
- Capacity to make decisions and work through ambiguity with minimal oversight and direction
- High ethical standards and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
