DESCRIPTION
The Loss Prevention Associate is responsible for all aspects of security, control of merchandise loss, and safety of the building. The Loss Prevention Associate also acts as a Manager on Duty and assists in leading the store’s daily operations. The Loss Prevention Associate assist in leading the store’s daily operations at times. This position reports directly to the Assistant Store Manager, Operations.
- Open and close building, set alarm system and complete all store call policies
- Monitor store entrance, greet visitors and answer phones
- Explain, demonstrate, communicate and facilitate awareness programs, profit protection programs, and risk management programs
- Operate and monitor CCTV system to detect incidents of dishonesty and violations of policy.
- Patrol the store to observe and identify suspicious activity
- If certified: investigate, detain, and interview shoplifters
- Initiate and assist in employee investigations, as well as identify and report violations of company policy to management.
- Prepare reports and document all loss prevention incidents, secure evidence, and appear as witness in legal proceedings
- Conduct associate injury and Public Liability accident investigations
- Prepare monthly safety reports and participate in monthly safety meeting
- Inspect, review, and audit key areas
- Complete Daily sales audit. Monitor and investigate over/shorts
- Perform Manager on Duty responsibilities if scheduled, including overseeing total store operations, responding to customer service issues, prioritizing and delegating associate workload and responding to staffing concerns appropriately
- Support the onboarding process for new associates and deliver technical training in areas of expertise
- Objectively assess associate performance and provide feedback to management to address development opportunities
- Foster a positive work environment by delivering recognition
- Assist store team with preparation and execution of annual inventory
- Be able to complete, and stay current, on all required LP training.
- Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of Loss Prevention experience (retail environment preferred)
Must have effective verbal and written communication skills and be multitask oriented
Must have strong organizational and problem solving skills
Requires the ability to perform general math computations and have basic computer skills
Ability to operate photographic and video equipment
Capable of performing some lifting of up to 35 pounds
Capable to climb ladders and work at heights
Loss Prevention Investigators must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on business need, which will include evenings, weekends and holidays.
