Belonging Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION The Belonging Manager leads the diversity, equity, and inclusion pillar of Neiman Marcus Group (NMG)’s Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) strategy and owns progress towards the goals within it. The ideal candidate will successfully advance workplace equality, strengthen workforce diversity, and champion an inclusive marketplace through effective multi-stakeholder collaboration and implementation of evidence-based strategies. Candidates should be familiar with technical DEI concepts and best practices and have a proven track record of leveraging creative thinking, partnership development, project management, and data reporting and analysis skills to create positive and equitable change.
MAIN FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead cross-functional project teams that advance workplace equality by evaluating associate policies, programs, and practices and bringing them in line with prominent external standards, including the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index and Bloomberg’s Gender Equality Index
• Launch and manage associate resource groups that increase diverse associate engagement and retention across the business
• Collaborate with NMG’s Talent Acquisition and Talent Development teams to identify and implement strategies that increase racial and ethnic diversity in leadership roles Director level and above
• Develop a Supplier Diversity Program that enables NMG’s Spend Management team to track and increase procurement from diverse suppliers
• Develop and implement Belonging training requirements and curriculum for NMG associates in partnership with NMG’s Talent Development team
• Leverage outside professional networks and activities to conduct peer-to-peer benchmarking that ensures industry alignment and broadens NMG’s knowledge of emerging DEI best practices
• Create and implement communication strategies that support NMG’s Belonging calendar and increase awareness of company efforts among associates, customers, investors, and retail industry peers
• Regularly track, analyze, and report EEO-1 information and other Belonging KPIs within NMG’s ESG strategy and suggest new and innovative reporting metrics over time
• Work closely ESG team peers to ensure NMG’s sustainability and philanthropy efforts are inclusive, equitable, and aligned with the company’s Belonging work
• Act as a brand ambassador for NMG’s Belonging Mission
QUALIFICATIONS
• 3-5 years of work history in corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Experience with associate resource groups and supplier diversity programs preferred
• Demonstrated success in collaborating across multiple stakeholder groups to create positive and equitable change
• Capacity to make decisions and work through ambiguity with minimal oversight and direction High ethical standards, passion for purpose, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
