VP Market General Manager
Qualifications
- 15+ years of related experience and/or training including significant experience leading multi-store markets
- Prior retail senior management experience required
- 4-year degree preferred
- Experience holding full profit and loss accountability
- Demonstrated change leadership within team and organization
- History of leading, motivating, and coaching teams to achieve objectives
- Proven track record achieving results across multiple businesses
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience building effective teams. navigating complex business problems and partners, presenting at the executive level, collaborating with leads across corporate functions, and leading large-scale initiatives
- Advanced business acumen and analytical skills
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office Product Suite and other retail systems and technologies
- Certain roles may require standing, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds
- Associates must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on business need, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Travel will be required, up to 40%
Responsibilities & Duties
PEOPLE
Inspire and motivate teams to drive a central vision with consistent communication
- Rallies market and stores teams around a central vision, connecting individual effort to the broader store, market, region, and brand collective achievements.
- Tailors leadership style to appropriately set expectations and coach for growth for different levels of direct reports / audience
- Leads and facilitates cross-functional communication across market and own store to optimize collaborative efforts communicating frequently and clearly
- Provides consistent and frequent communication so all team members are aware of the store vision, goals, and expectations
Be a change leader
- Serves as change leader for store and market to ensure accountability in best practices and program implementations (including launching and leading pilot program)
- Effective implementation of change management measures through the swift adoption of strategic initiatives
Coach and develop team with a strong sense of effective performance management
- Evaluates performance measured by appropriate reports and scorecards with support from Regional/Market function leaders and the SVP, Integrated Retail
- Recognizes outstanding performance, addresses opportunities for improvement, and quickly resolves issues
- Encourage a broader evaluation of talent mapping, bench creation and overall shared talent opportunities
BUSINESS OWNERSHIP
Engage in strategic market leadership by leveraging presence and proximity to drive results
- Oversees all strategic initiatives for market stores and enforces consistent implementation within the market
- Determines strategic objectives in close partnership with Market Managers and Regional Teams for the market stores and sets priorities accordingly
- Leverage market support structure to deploy resources and support where needed
- In partnership with RMD, drives local merchandise strategy and communications with merchant and vendor partners (e.g. presentation, returns, damages)
- Facilitates market and store leadership team meetings by fostering a trusting and respectful environment for free and open participation, idea sharing, addressing concerns / challenges, setting goals, etc.
Deliver profitable and sustainable growth for the market
- Drives towards the achievement of maximum sales and growth in line with company vision and values in partnership with other functional leads for the entire store
- Sets goals for market team in alignment with company objectives and supports leaders in achieving them
- Plans and executes store budget and ensures guidelines are being followed to minimize operating expenses and maximize revenue
Take business analyses and turn them into insights for action
- Continuously analyzes and develops understanding of internal / external customer behavior, trends, and preferences, adjusting processes and standards accordingly (e.g. focus programs)
- Utilizes sales and KPI data to create and implement appropriate strategies and action plans for the market to yield improvement in results
CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT
Ensure a consistent and cohesive service experience for customers
- Fosters synergies within the market to develop a cohesive brand experience for customers
- Maximize opportunities for customers to engage in multiple store locations and channels
- Champion teams to break silos and reduce channel conflict in support of placing the customer at the center of all experiences
Develop and grow relationships customers have with our brand
- Ensure that all stores in the market are focused on establishing, fostering, and growing client relationships leveraging all that the market has to offer (ie brand experience events, services, restaurants, partnerships)
- Guide teams to create and grow a client development culture whereby teams are driving engagement and frequency of our loyal customers proactively
- Leverage Client Development regional and market support to achieve customer engagement KPIs
- Champion digitally empowered selling via the use of digital tools and selling models
Drive growth and retention of top clients
- Clear understanding and identification of the market’s top clients
- Focus on retaining and growing relationships with high value /potential clients through curated and personal luxury experiences
