NEIMAN MARCUS GROUP

The staff accountant is responsible for the Company’s business licenses, escheatment, and vendor billing for store projects.  The position is key to tracking and processing payments for business licenses and permits as required by the city/state for all properties, reporting unclaimed property, and invoicing vendors. The responsibilities of this position will include regular communication with internal and external groups including store management, capital projects, accounts payable, and city/state agencies among others. The accountant will also prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations based on the research and activities performed in each of the areas

 

Key Performance Elements

  • Track and process payments for various business licenses and store permits
  • Work closely with stores to ensure licenses and permits are per required code
  • Perform Escheatment duties that included reporting of unclaimed property quarterly and annually
  • Prepare billings for vendor contribution on store construction projects
  • Responsible for recording journal entries and researching GL account activity for related accounts
  • Responsible for preparation of monthly GL reconciliations for related accounts
  • Collaborate with various departments within the organization on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Analyze and manipulate large amounts of data

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Experience in Oracle and Hyperion is a plus
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Business Objects, or other Database management tools
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to help prioritize multiple projects and deadlines

 

Work Experience

  • 1-2 years of accounting experience (public accounting and/or retail experience a plus)
