Your Role
As Copy Editor, you will have digital, print, and retail advertising experience, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, the agility to switch hats quickly, astute prioritization skills, and a solid team-player attitude. You will be able to deliver engaging, focused, accurate copy for a wide variety of projects; own assignments from concept to initial draft to deployment; participate and contribute to the evolution of our brand voice; and participate in the conceptualization for new and repeat campaigns. You will report to the Senior Copy Editor and will work remotely.
What You'll Do
- Edit and proof digital and print creative assets with the utmost care for grammar, spelling, voice, and style. Work with Senior Editor and copy team to repurpose content wherever possible and ensure consistency in messaging across channels.
- Write and edit merchandise cutlines and product copy for print assets across categories and be responsible for upholding FTC regulations. Confirm accuracy of editorial information and merchandise descriptions based on information based on internal and external resources.
- Help brainstorm creative solutions to process issues and occasionally fulfill writing projects. Act as a liaison with editorial writers, graphic designers, and other departments, including marketing, merchants, and legal, to provide necessary information to complete projects as efficiently as possible.
- Act as a vital member of the team in creating better checks and balances for the volume of work. Partner with project managers on schedules and asset delivery.
- Own the fine print of all assigned projects. Candidate must have the ability to perform the necessary detail work and take culpability for the overall troubleshooting of daily assets, while accommodating deadlines.
What You Bring
- Minimum 5 years’ experience editing copy for websites, digital, and print marketing
- Bachelor’s degree with major or minor in advertising, marketing, journalism, or English, or commensurate professional experience in those fields
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills with an eye for design and layout
- Ability to synthesize information and edit appropriately, exhibiting extreme attention to detail
- Clear and concise written and oral communication skills
- Positive, enthusiastic, can-do attitude and ability to work with a diverse team
- Ability to edit and write quickly, accurately, and creatively under pressure
- Capacity to adapt to change and make last-minute revisions based on business needs and direction
- Proficiency in InDesign, PowerPoint, and Wrike a plus
