DESCRIPTION

This position is for a Manager, Platform Engineering focusing on architecting, designing and building enterprise cloud capabilities and solutions for all Omnichannel Services applications on AWS. This role will collaborate with the Cloud Center of Excellence, Technology Risk Management, Security, Technology Operations and Application Development teams during design and development phases, providing guidance, interpretation, and engineering expertise. The role will additionally focus on the overall technical and architecture design, cost effectiveness, quality of solution, knowledge transfer, and mentoring of the technical team members. Lastly, the role will be keenly aware of cloud computing industry trends with regards to technology and adoption while also being proficient in the understanding of and application of various automation related tools and languages. This role will also provide a clear direction and lead agile product teams in the areas of scheduling, technical direction, future planning and standard development practices. Identifies opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop technical roadmap for team evolution across all brands and align with Product Owner.
  • Contributes to and support the corporate adoption of the DevOps methodology and Agile development
  • Strong networking knowledge with emphasis on VPC, Direct Connect, Multi-AZ design
  • Provides expert level design and engineering support towards the successful delivery of IT’s cloud project portfolio
  • Contribute towards continual service improvement activities related to the delivery of cloud services
  • Develop and implement internal systems, processes, and best practices to be used by other teams designed to increase productivity
  • Participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, cost effectiveness and high availability in the cloud
  • Design, implement, and test disaster recovery and business continuity architecture
  • Create and implement automation in the form of infrastructure as code for cloud platform solutions
  • Ensure all infrastructure components meet proper performance and capacity standards
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.
  • Ensures communication and alignment between all teams.
  • Ensures and can provide evidence that projects are meeting milestones and deliverables.
  • Resolves issues, roadblocks and changes, and escalates to Scrum Master as needed.
  • Responsible for IT project budget forecasts/projections and financial reporting.
  • Point of escalation for all technical team members.
  • Drives successful integrations with internal and external teams, including vendors.
  • Ensures the backlog & roadmap aligns with the needs of Product Engineering & Technical Operations teams.
  • Ensures team is following all processes, procedures, and templates used in department or organization.
  • Identify for improving any processes or procedures that are outdated or obsolete.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement, change and world class delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Masters degree in Computer science or equivalent engineering disciplines is preferred. 

  • At least 8+ years of overall experience, including 1-3 years as Technical Lead/Architect managing and overseeing teams.
  • 2 plus years of experience working and managing distributed teams.
  • Strong architectural experience coupled with delivery of systems that work globally across markets.
  • Experience building and delivery of eCommerce sites, Mobile apps
  • Experience working with Cloud native applications with Spring Boot ecosystem, ReactJS, Node.js Serverless and AWS or similar platform. 
  • Strong experience in building/architecting event driven systems 
  • 4+ years of experience with cloud environments and services such as AWS
  • Familiar with Continuous Deployment and Automation concepts
  • Comfortable with large-scale production systems and technologies such as load balancing, databases, distributed systems or configuration management.
  • In depth, practical experience with Cloud methodologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), automation, orchestration, trends and industry-leading cloud vendor offerings
  • Experience in architecting and implementing cloud-based solutions with robust Business Continuity and Disaster Recover requirements
  • 4+ years practical experience designing, building, and automating solutions utilizing AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, KMS, Route 53, Lambda, IAM, Kinesis, ECS and API Gateway
  • 3+ years’ experience working with cloud automation tools such as Terraform. AWS CloudFormation’s experience is also a plus.
  • 3+ years’ experience in building CI/CD pipeline automation in tools like Jenkins/Cloud bees with scripting languages such as Groovy, Ruby, or Python
  • 3+ years practical experience working in DevOps team/organizations with applied Agile development practices
  • 3+ years hands on experience with automated tooling such as Ansible
  • Hands on experience with Docker and container orchestration
  • Strong understanding and experience leading teams using Agile and Scrum principles.  
  • Experience with automated testing, deployment pipelines and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of roles and titles.
  • Ability to collaborate, influence and build partnerships.
  • Experienced with leading, coaching, and mentoring individuals and teams
  • Experience designing and implementing effective process development.
  • Experience applying change management best practices to strategies, projects and programs.
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment with continuous delivery
  • Work closely with the recruitment team to hire and onboard engineers
 
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Preferably have large-scale experience in an agile development environment
  • Experience supporting External APIs / External Vendor integrations
  • Experience working with AWS environment
  • Maintains current knowledge of marketplace changes, technology changes, and client businesses pertinent to cloud, server, storage and network virtualization.
