The Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting is responsible for the Company’s internal and external financial reporting as well as corporate and technical accounting. This position is key in the quarterly production and review of internal and external reporting documents and other materials. The role is responsible for leading and developing a team, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, partnering with operational teams and leaders to achieve company objectives and leading the Company’s technical accounting and compliance processes as well as periodic due diligence and special projects. This highly visible position demands a strong technical accounting background, excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, knowledge of operational processes and systems, and superior leadership, coaching and interpersonal skills.

Key Performance Elements:

  • Strong leader who can influence and lead initiatives within the Company, as well as manage and motivate a team of 6-10 individuals
  • Timely and accurate reporting of consolidated financial statements, financial statement analysis, and ad hoc reporting as required
  • Monthly financial close process, including significant estimates and reserves, variance analysis and reconciliation
  • Interact with executives and organization leadership as well as other internal departments to achieve objectives, implement strategic initiatives and ensure the accuracy and validity of financial reporting
  • Manage team workflow and coordinate deliverables to internal and external customers on a timely basis
  • Lead quarterly and annual audits and reviews with external auditors as well as periodic valuation processes with internal and external groups
  • Technical accounting research and analysis, including standard implementation, valuation analyses, and cash flow reporting
  • Design, implement and maintain processes and controls in connection with accounting & financial reporting areas of responsibility as well as in connection with the implementation of new processes and initiatives
  • Mental and operational agility, including organization and prioritization of work, managing workflow and expectations in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including comfort in using digital connectivity solutions (e.g., Teams, Zoom or WebEx) to interact with team and others
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote working environment, including management and motivation of a team

Requirements:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Master’s degree preferred
  • Active CPA license required
  • Public accounting and financial reporting or related consulting experience is required, SEC reporting experience highly preferred
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products is a must, Oracle and Hyperion Essbase experience is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, professional presentation, and management experience
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, problem solving, research skills, resourcefulness and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and manage expectations

Work Experience:

10+ years of progressive accounting experience with an emphasis in technical accounting and financial reporting.
