Accounting Director – Inventory & Gross Margin
The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial reporting and control functions related to NMG’s inventory and gross margin performance, including retail wholesale, consignment and concession business models. This position requires a strong accounting background and analytical skills, broad knowledge of operational processes and systems, and excellent leadership skills. This role is responsible for leading and developing a tenured team of 15-20 associates. The Director of Accounting will need to build cooperative working relationships with internal and external business partners to achieve company objectives.
Key Performance Elements
- Responsible for general ledger accounting, including monthly close, balance sheet reconciliations, reserves, and financial reporting related to inventory and gross margin results
- Strong leader who can influence and lead initiatives within the company, and manage and motivate a team of 15-20 associates
- Build team member capabilities through objective setting and development, cultivating an environment of performance and accountability
- Interact with upper management and external customers on a regular basis as well as other internal customers/departments to integrate solutions that meet the company’s goals both financially and operationally
- Collaborate with other Finance Team members to maintain workflow, documentation, and systems to support accurate financial reporting, including tax preparation and monthly financial statements
- Lead quarterly and annual external audits related to inventory and gross margin functions
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against plan and forecast
- Ensure proper internal controls are in place and are consistently monitored
- Ability to organize and prioritize on demand requests

Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business or related field – or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of inventory accounting experience
- 10+ years leading and developing diverse teams
- Experience with accounting systems and processes
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Products
