Bergdorf Goodman - Learning & Development Instructional Designer

This role sits in Learning & Development and will work collaboratively with L&D and cross-functionally with the overall organization to analyze instructional and educational outcomes through the lens of dynamic design and provide expertise in the planning, development, and delivery of high-quality blended-learning experiences for the Bergdorf Goodman organization.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify, design and organize mixed-media content and flow for virtual and classroom instructor led training, self-led and micro learning, videos, podcasts, etc., and recognize the appropriate methodologies necessary to achieve an impact that resonates with adult learning.
  • Create training tools and experiences that educate all associates on the brand, customer experience and culture, and importantly, enhance self and career development.
  • Content must be on-brand, engaging, compelling and incorporates the power of storytelling to enhance learning.
  • Nurture an environment that rewards curiosity and the exploration of learning for individual and team growth to enhance the customer (internal and external) experience and the overall culture of our brand.
  • Develop learning objectives, structure learning activities, create visual aids for virtual, online and face-to-face interactions.
  • Innovation is key – must remain relentlessly up to date with emerging and future trends in learning technologies and across all relevant industries to develop best in class solutions.
  • Contribute to digital selling platforms, supporting relationship-based engagements through virtual experiences.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional departments including - creative, client development and the merchant organization to design content for sellers that enhance the client experience.
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product.
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders.

  • Ability to engage during learning – co-facilitate sessions, check for understanding and support with additional technology as needed.


  • Create modes of assessment, such as quizzes and surveys, to measure the effectiveness of the courses. This role will also be responsible for planning and managing course development and design projects.
  • Must be able to write effective copy, instructional text, and audio and video scripts
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in instructional design, graphic design, education, or equivalent field.
  • Two to four years in instructional or graphic design, experience in learning models to develop online, mobile and instructor-led courses.
  • Experience with eLearning technology platforms and learning management systems.
  • Strong experience in Adobe Creative Suite, and various multimedia tools.
