Darcy Penick, President of Bergdorf Goodman and one of the first leaders in pure-play fashion e-commerce, has built a team of industry pioneers who are bringing their collective expertise and commitment to operational excellence to the world of Bergdorf Goodman.  As the destination to discover best in class designers, emerging brands and exclusive products, Bergdorf Goodman provides customers with transformative experiences that embody the definition of modern luxury.




The Copywriter develops, conveys and maintains the BG brand voice in all print and digital assets, including ads, magazine stories, store signage, sales associate emails, event invitations, direct mailers, emails and refreshes, blog posts and additional collateral materials. The Copywriter also takes a central role in commissioning, composing and editing articles for BG Magazine. The Copywriter is an integral member of the creative team, working daily with the Creative Director and Designers to ensure copy is tailored to complement design, and working with the Assistant Copywriter to develop and edit copy for all communications platforms.



Advertisements/Signage/Sales Associate Emails:

Write and format editorial/informational copy for ads, signage and sales associate emails that promote designer collections, store events and initiatives, and uphold BG’s identity as a fashion authority while maintaining our house style and brand guidelines. Work with buying office to determine copy points and factual details to be included in assets. Work with Account Manager and legal team to obtain creative and legal approvals for assets.

Work with Assistant Copywriter to ensure BG voice is maintained across online presences, including daily emails, weekly website refreshes, and auxiliary copy in website banners, digital ads and on the 5th/58th blog. Ensure that online copy provides calls to action supporting business objectives, and is consistent with all corresponding print and in-store copy. Periodically contribute features for 5th/58th blog.


BG Magazine:

Develop journalism feature ideas around seasonal, local and trend-based themes, coordinate journalism features with writers, liaise between the writers, buying office, fashion office and third parties, collect assets for trend pages and information on new featured designers, and help ensure all deadlines are met. Source imagery for all journalism pages.


BG Mailers:

Write and edit editorial copy for beauty, accessories and holiday gift mailers. Work with freelance copywriter to make sure product copy follows BG house style. Review monthly vendor-produced mailers to ensure BG voice and house formatting standards are maintained.


Style Guide:

Update and maintain in-house Style Guide, including copy standards and guidelines for print ads, emails, sale announcements, general brand language and more.





  • A minimum of 5 years of writing experience in advertising, direct marketing, promotion or publishing, preferably with a background in fashion retail
