Job Duties
  • Develop long and short term strategic merchandise initiatives in conjunction with the President.  Provide sales growth and margin optimization while ensuring distinctive, dominant and exclusive assortments.
  • Demonstrate leadership to divisional merchandise managers and buyers to execute strategic initiatives.
  • Work with planning organization to ensure merchandise and financial plans reflect goals and objectives of strategic initiatives.
  • Develop vendor strategies that support strategic goals and provide leadership to execute these strategies.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships.  SVP/GMM would be the primary contact for domestic and foreign fashion vendors.
  • Develop seasonal merchandise plans in conjunction with the planning organization.
  • Match corporate strategic merchandising initiatives with seasonal divisional initiatives to develop seasonal growth and margin goals.
  • Provide leadership to push high growth vendors and/or classifications beyond expectations of seasonal plans.
  • Develop thoughtful and accurate projections in conjunction with the merchant team and planning organization.
  • Provide monthly, 3-month and 6-month projections.
  • Provide updates on opportunities and risks that arise within projection timeframes.
  • Work closely with marketing, creative, advertising and store merchants to enable proper exposure and marketing of all merchandise opportunities.
  • Create new marketing initiatives with vendors and marketing teams.
  • Develop email schedule with web merchants and marketing to execute seasonal plans.
  • Ensure financial goals are exceeded by leveraging knowledge of business with planning and financial teams. Develop a long term merchant team strategy with human resources to optimize growth.
Job Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in a merchandise management role (GMM/DMM) within a high volume merchandising organization in a fashion apparel or home fashion category.
  • Demonstrated management skills, mentoring and developing a merchant.
  • Market experience with fashion, current trend merchandise.
  • The ability to successfully develop and execute a merchandising strategy.
  • Outstanding leadership skills; the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong written, oral and presentation communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
